About Us

R.E.A.L Community Resources, LLC

R.E.A.L Community Resources, LLC is an inclusive company that provides access to resources for community needs. R.E.A.L encompasses professional members that are respectful to the communities they serve, highly educated in mental health and substance abuse awareness, financial, occupational, and educational development, and physical, spiritual, and social empowerment. R.E.A.L members are not only respectful, and educated, but also are assertive leaders that take pride in meeting the needs of the community without hesitation or delay no matter the circumstances.

In addition to providing community resources, R.E.A.L provides a wide variety of trainings and wellness events for education institutions, and both public and private sector organizations. Training topics range from mental health and wellness education, workplace dynamics, self-care, and work-life balance. Trainings are offered on-line or on-site depending on the need of the consumer. R.E.A.L also offer online Mental Health Therapy for individuals from Licensed Professional Counselors.

Alecia Middleton, EdD, LPC

Dr. Alecia Middleton is the Founder and Director of Mental Health Education Services for R.E.A.L Community Resources, LLC, which is Respectful, Educated, Assertive, Leaders providing resources to the community. Dr. Middleton is also a published author and has a unique personal story of overcoming her learning disability of dyslexia to becoming a Doctor of Education.  She obtained her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University in 2019.  She also holds a Masters in Mental Health Counseling, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University.  Dr. Middleton has over 8 years of experience in the mental health education field, program development, and community outreach. She is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan and has a certification in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). She has also been acknowledged by major corporations as an outstanding training facilitator and conducted professional development workshops local, state, and nationwide.  Dr. Middleton also has trained experience in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She prides herself on leading by example to foster an environment of belongingness and the celebration of diversity, such as her own. She also believes it is her duty to treat all people with unconditional positive regard and commit to listening, learning, and advocating on their behalf, no matter their race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or disability. Dr. Middleton strives to continue enhancing awareness in various communities on the importance of educational and leadership development, and physical and mental health.  Dr. Middleton founded this company because she believed it’s not only important to provide a service and resources, but more importantly to treat people with the RESPECT they deserve when having the courage to seek help when in need.

A source of information, service or expertise that is provided within the community, including but not limited to mental health services and other social services.

R.E.A.L is continuously expanding territories to provide resources for various communities. Currently the communities include Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Washtenaw counties within Michigan.

Deciding to participate in therapy is a personal choice.

Often individuals will decide to utilize services:

  • When they are unable to resolve their issues on their own
  • Symptoms are worsening
  • Maintenance of daily stressors
  • Grief or recent losses
  • Life transitions
  • Many other experiences
  • Consultation/Resources
  • If mental health therapy is needed the next steps will be:
    • Insurance or out of pocket cost determination
    • Completed service agreement
    • Intake
    • Treatment plan development
    • Therapy Sessions and Assessments

Building client-therapist rapport, establishing a safe space, exploring where the client is currently mentally and emotionally, past experiences, and identifying hopes for therapy accomplishments.

Therapy sessions are typically 55 minutes, and the duration of the number of sessions varies based on the individual needs and goals, and what would be clinically appropriate.
